Three Steps to a Better Drawing:
For the first post, I would like to share a very simple tutorial Three Steps to a Better Drawing! 

    When drawing, many beginners dive right into the details. Who wouldn't want to? I love the details. However, it is best to leave details alone until the end, and here is why.

    Oftentimes, in our impatience, we commit to the drawing too soon without having checked for accuracy in our measurements and gesture. This is especially true in portrait and figure drawing. Only later do we realize our errors and by then we have labored for hours on a drawing only to be unhappy with its overall effect. How disappointing and frustrating!

    So, how do we break our bad habits? Practice the block-in.

What is a block-in?

   The block-in is a simplified line or tonal drawing where the main goal is establishing shapes, height and width relationships (measurements) and values of our subject. No unnecessary details are added to the drawing in this stage. It is best to try and remain in the stage as long as you can if you want your drawing to have a great end result.

Copy these block-in stages below and then try practicing the three stages by drawing a simple object like a coffee mug or a piece of fruit.
